The day as a huge SUCCESS!

Early the morning Goal Hunters played against Refugee Six. The U19 tournament was overwhelming! These 2 teams have competed against eachother before; they showed so much respect and brotherhood toward one another that made spectators really admire them. Goal Hunters then won the match.

All the teams were very excited to compete in the tournament as it was the first time that all sponsored teams gets to meet eachother. Hans Vonk then made an appearance at the tournament and gave a short motivation message to all the boys. They were so excited to see Hans as he is seen as a soccer hero to these kids. Pictures were made and questions were asked, this was a big surprise for the teams and made them feel even more motivated to play soccer.

Hans Vonk then said goodbye to the teams and then he was on his way. With all the teams now excited and neatly dressed in their sponsored kits, the game then commenced. The teams were very competitive as they have been practising for this day for days. Many teams impressed the crowd with their skill and enthusiasm for the game, these boys showed so much potential.

After many rounds of intense competition, it was KTC All Stars and Cultural Roots that faced eachother in the final match. All the teams gathered around to watch these 2 teams face eachother. After 10 minutes of play it was Cultural Roots that won the tournament.

The winning teams (Goal Hunters and Cultural Roots) won a soccer clinic (training session) with Hans Vonk and Ajax Cape Town for the day where they will be taught different skills about soccer.

We believe that everyone is winners and therefore gave everyone a Bafanakids certificate signed by Hans Vonk from Ajax Cape Town. The kids loved the certificates and everyone felt like they achieved something.

We looking forward to host many more of these tournament!

Sponsor your team

In 2010 South Africa becomes the first African host of the FIFA World Cup football. Ironically there where the most loyal supporters live - in the townships - the facilities are the worst. To many clubs decent kits and a training field are unaffordable luxuries. Bafanakids.org gives you the chance to make a lasting difference that doesn’t stop when the World Cup does.
