GOAL HUNTERS U13
ORACLE
On the 24th June 2010 Goal Hunters U13 received a full sponsored soccer kit from Oracle; a software company that provides businesses with hardware and software systems in more than 145 countries around the globe. Goal Hunters team were extremely grateful and happy when they received their kit as they have been waiting long to find someone that is willing to help their team.
They were even more excited that Oracle representatives were there to hand over the kit to them themselves! And not only did they hand the kit over, but they also played a mini tournament against the young and ambitious players. The teams were split in two groups each and played on two field coordinated by BAFANAKIDS partner Sporting Chance.
The matches were played with passion and joy and when the drinks and muffins were served during half time could we see that the bond between the Dutch and the South Africans was established. After the match did Oracle take a moment to tell the kids a special story about the Foundation that one of the Oracle players initiated in Holland in loving memory of his friend Harold who sadly passed away earlier this year, leaving a pregnant wife of twins and a young son behind.
The ‘Harold van Zundert Stichting’ – www.haroldvanzundert.nl – donated extra shirts and goody bags to the children who were absolutely delighted! The ‘Harold van Zundert Stichting’ aims to put a smile on the faces of young children who have lost a parent(s). To top this immaculate morning off did all the players receive a medal for their participation into the tournament afterwhich the group from Oracle walked the children through Khayelitsha to the place where the kids would have lunch on behalf of Oracle. The goodbyes were paired with big smiles, hugs and high fives and the day became a day that nobody will forget anytime soon.
Thank you Oracle for making this handover so special to the team and thank you for your sponsorship.

In 2010 South Africa becomes the first African host of the FIFA World Cup football. Ironically there where the most loyal supporters live - in the townships - the facilities are the worst. To many clubs decent kits and a training field are unaffordable luxuries. Bafanakids.org gives you the chance to make a lasting difference that doesn’t stop when the World Cup does.
